Woolly Owls

Marie Mayhew's latest pattern, Woolly Owls, has arrived at our nest on Grand Ave just in time for summer.

The pattern includes 2 designs, one for a rounded head owl and another for a tufted ear owl.

Marie recommends using yarn with mohair or adding a carry-along yarn with mohair to add a fuzziness to your owl. In fact, she even added tips for brushing your owl after felting to create an even softer and fuzzier woodland creature. And don't forget to brush the feet too.

Other ideas include, adding a contrasting color as the carry-along mohair to create a variegated look.

Or using novelty yarns to the wings

and tail.

But stop there, think beyond natural colors and create a whimsical owl with other fun and bright colors.

Have a hoo-ot and create a variety of owls for all the bird enthusiasts in your life.
