Staff Pick - Lynn

Yarnery staffer and very experienced knitter, Lynn, is making our staff pick this time around. Her favorite? Rowan’s Kid Silk Haze (KSH), a lovely blend of 70% super kid mohair and 30% silk. For those of you who know Lynn, this should come as no surprise! She has completed many projects using KSH; alone or held together with another yarn. She loves combining it with sock yarn like Claudia’s Hand-painted Sock Yarn for sweaters, knitting it alone for light-weight summer tops, and combining lots of colors in mitered squares or stripes. The possibilities are endless! One of the things Lynn likes best about KSH are the colors - “they are so amazing!”

Let’s get more specific with some of Lynn’s favorite projects:

Rowan Knitting Magazine #43 has a beautiful pattern by Sarah Hatton named Eerie. This lovely short-sleeved lace pullover requires only 3 or 4 skeins of KSH and would make an excellent summer knitting project – light, airy and soft.

Modern Quilt Wrap by Mags Kandis from Folk Style is a colorful, mitered square scarf/wrap using nine KSH colors. Gorgeous use of colors in a whimsical style…don’t feel you have to use the colors called for in the pattern!

Lynn also plans to make Wentworth by Kaffe Fassett from Rowan Knitting Magazine #46, using sixteen colors of KSH. This light-weight beauty will be a lasting classic!

While these projects are big and beautiful, KSH is also the perfect complement to almost any hat, scarf or cowl project. When held together with another yarn, KSH softens the colors and texture and adds a bit of the mohair warmth our Minnesota winters demand.

We have a Yarnery motto - Everything is better with
Kid Silk Haze!
